Directions to Beech Mountain, NC from Florida |
|
Take I-75N TO
301N (near OCALA).
( Alternate way might be from Orlando, take I-95 to South Carolina
where you will take I-26 (see instructions below))
*Note: AAA in Bradenton stated they are no longer routing people to
301
due to speed traps - one of them is Waldo. They are sending people
on to I-
75 even though it is longer. If you take 301, I recommend that you
watch
the speed limits carefully, as they are constantly changing. Also -
DO NOT
SPEED.
Take 301N to I-10E (near Jacksonville)
Take I-10E (a short distance) to I-295 (I think this is North)
Take I-295 TO 95N, north of Jacksonville..
(As stated above, from Orlando, it might be closer to take I-4 to
95N.
Take 95 North to I-26W . This is Exit 86B. (You stay on 95N all
through GA. And part of SC. The I-26W exit is in S.C. )
Take I-26W to I-77 North. Take I-77 into North Carolina to Billy
Graham Parkway.(Billy Graham exits one way only). Watch for the exit
onto I-85 south ( I know this sounds like going in the opposite
direction of where you want to go, but it is for a short distance
only). You will take the exit for 321 North, Gastonia/Lincolnton.
Take a left onto 321 towards Lenoire/Hickory. You will take 321 all
the way into Boone. (You will get to see Blowing Rock, Lenoire and
Boone. In Boone you will turn left onto 105 towards Tynecastle. see
directions below.
Note: Whether you are traveling from FL or not, unless you are
arriving on Hwy 194, most people will be arriving via 1-77, I-81,
I-85, I-26 (as per the directions above)and I-40. Main highways from
the interstate’s are US 221, US 321, US 421 and US 19E. From either
Boone or Linville, NC take NC 105 to NC 184. The following
directions would apply for all:
Take 105 to the traffic light (this is 184). You will turn left at
this light. (Unless you are arriving from the direction of Boone, NC
and then you would turn right. This is Tynecastle. There is a
McDonald’s on the corner. Behind McDonald’s is Lowe’s Grocery Store.
Eckerd’s is across the street from McDonald’s. (Food Lion is further
up the road on 184, this is where we shop before going up the
mountain.)
184 takes you to Banner Elk. ( Road dead ends at light in Banner
Elk. - turn left and go past Les McRae College)
One Block past the college, turn right on 184 North. That is Beech
Mountain Parkway . My home is about 5 miles from the base of the
mountain.
Take Beech Mountain Parkway up the Mountain. At the top of the
Mountain you will see Charlie’s Beech Mountain Realty & Rentals then
Town Hall on the left.. Fred’s Mercantile store is on the left also.
Remember, Fred’s is the only store on the Mountain. In the winter,
this area, next to the Chamber of Commerce is where the community
snow tubing run is located.
On Beech Mountain
Parkway, continue past Tamarack Road. The next right is Hornbeam
Road (located between two rental complexes. Turn right on Hornbeam,
follow to the right when you reach the "Y". The next left (just past
4 mailboxes) is Beechwood Lane. (It is a gravel road). Turn here (it
is a 180 degree turn). Follow the road almost to the end. We are the
next to the last house before the cul-de-sac on the left hand side
of the road. We are located across the street from Cedar Village
townhouses. There is parking for four cars there. It is a cream and
burgundy,
hexagonal house. There is new decking and walkways going up to the
house. Main entry is on the second floor. The elevated fence has the
house number on it.
If you cancel
more than four weeks in advance, we reserve the right to charge a
$25.00 cancellation fee. The balance of your deposit will be
refunded. If it is convenient to both parties to reschedule, there
will be no rescheduling fee.
Cancellations made less than four weeks in advance of your stay are
permitted by our permission only.
• Examples of reasonable causes would be hospitalization, death in
the family, serious illness etc.
• Please do not ask for cancellation due to whether or not there is
snow or proper conditions for snow making-we are guaranteeing the
rental unit only, not the weather. If all 4 Ski Resorts in the area
are unable to make snow and are closed due to warm weather, we will
gladly refund the difference between winter and summer rates. There
is a cleaning fee for stays of four nights or less, unless otherwise
stated. Sales tax always applies.
The Beech Mountain Chamber of Commerce recommends that in the winter
you have 4 wheel drive or snow chains for driving on the mountain
when there is snow or ice.
A Falling Leaf Chalet is a hexagonal home with three level. The
first level if the "basement" where the firewood, washer/dryer and
loaner tubes and snow boards are kept. On the second level (the main
entrance) there are two bedrooms, a kitchen/dining room, bathroom
and small living room. There is a spiral staircase leading to the
third level that has a large living room with stone fireplace, two
bedrooms and a bathroom. Both the second and third levels have
decking around the exterior of the home with views looking over the
mountain ranges. There are a total of 7 beds that comfortably sleep
10 people.
Most supplies including toilet paper, paper towels, soap, garbage
bags etc. are also included. While laundry soap is not guaranteed,
we make every effort to have it available.
